TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES

WHAT ARE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES?

Transmission oil cooler lines are lines that carry the transmission fluid to the radiator area in order to cool the fluid and then take it back to the transmission to be cycled again

How will I know when it's time for replacement?

The picture above is showing a typical transmission oil cooler line.  Transmission cooler lines are usually changed in pairs as a send and return line

  • Transmission oil cooler lines will require replacement only if they are leaking fluid.  You will most likely note a pink / red colored fluid on the ground under your vehicle after parking for any length of time.  If you notice this call us and book an appointment to have your vehicle inspected.

  • Transmission oil cooler lines could be leaking and not showing due to the fact the the fluid may be burning off on the engine block or other hot surface.  If you can smell something burning while you are driving or sitting at idle you should have your vehicle inspected to find out what is leaking.

  • Transmission oil cooler lines work just like a radiator hose that carries coolant only they carry transmission fluid for the purpose of cooling it instead of antifreeze

DID YOU KNOW.......

Not replacing your transmission oil cooler lines when they are leaking can lead to a lack of fluid and lubrication inside of the transmission and cause damage to internal parts.  This is one of the many instances where sub sequential damage may add up to being more than the cost of the original repair.  Have your vehicle inspected every 3 months / 3,000 miles / 5,000 km or three months in order to ensure that all lines and hoses are intact and not leaking.
