WHAT ARE STRUTS?

A strut is what gives you the proper ride from you coil springs and other suspension components.  It eliminates the ongoing bouncing motion of the springs

How will I know when it's time for replacement?

  • Most of today's vehicle have struts in the front suspension and shocks in the rear.  Some will have struts both front and rear.  You may notice excessive bouncing or a clunking noise when going over bumps.

  • If you hear a clunking noise from the front or rear of your vehicle when going over bumps or excessive bouncing it is usually a sign that the struts and or shocks (along with mounts in many cases) require replacement.

  • Your struts are inspected for leaking and or bouncing at each service interval.  Catching a strut before it has leaked out completely can extend the life of the strut mount.

DID YOU KNOW.......

Not replacing your struts before they are worn out is likely to cause premature wear on other suspension components such as coil springs and strut mounts.  This is one of the many instances where sub sequential damage may add up to being more than the cost of the original repair.  Have your struts inspected every 3 months / 3,000 miles or 5,000 km when your vehicle is in for regular servicing ensure your safety as well as avoid any further cost.
