CONTROL ARMS AND BUSHINGS

WHAT ARE CONTROL ARMS AND BUSHINGS?

The control arm is what mounts to the frame of the vehicle and supports the wheel through connection to the ball joint

How will I know when it's time for replacement?

  • Most often you will notice a clunking noise from the left or right front of your vehicle when a control arm bushing is worn as it will not cushion the metal contact as it should

  • Quite often you will be informed of the need for attention by the technician or service consultant looking after your vehicle as wear on bushings will be most often seen before it is heard

  • Your control arm bushings are inspected each visit to the shop for regular servicing in order to replace them before any damage can be done to the control arm or frame

DID YOU KNOW.......

Not replacing your control arm bushings before they are worn out is likely to cause other damage.  This is one of the many instances where sub sequential damage may add up to being more than the cost of the original repair.  Have your front end inspected every 3 months / 3,000 miles or 6,000 km when your vehicle is in for regular servicing to ensure your safety as well as avoid any further cost.
