CLUTCH

WHAT IS A CLUTCH (CLUTCH KIT)?

A clutch is what engages and disengages the transmission to allow for shifting of gears in a standard transmission

How will I know when it's time for replacement?

A clutch kit includes the components shown above.  The pressure plate, release bearing, friction plate and an alignment tool

  • The most common sign of a clutch that requires attention or replacement is a pedal that does not engage until it is almost on the floor or does not engage at all

  • You may notice a hard shift or slight grinding condition when changing gears due to the clutch not engaging fully even when completely depressed

  • The clutch is not a component that requires regular servicing but you should pay attention to its operation.  Most often you will notice a change in the operation before it is too late and the vehicle has to be towed in rather than being driven

DID YOU KNOW.......

Not replacing your clutch when you start to notice a problem will cause further damage to other transmission components.  This is one of the many instances where sub sequential damage may add up to being more than the cost of the original repair.  If you start to notice a change in the operation of your clutch book an appointment to have it inspected before other damage has taken place or you find yourself stranded.
