BRAKE CALIPER

WHAT IS A BRAKE CALIPER?

A brake caliper is the device that holds that pad in place and presses it against the rotor to bring vehicle to a stop

How will I know when it's time for replacement?

  • A caliper that is leaking may cause a soft or spongy feeling in the brake pedal.  This may also be noted as the need to keep filling the brake fluid reservoir.

  • A caliper that is hanging up may cause a pull to the left or right when braking or even when accelerating from a stop.

  • Your tires should be rotated every 6 months / 6,000 miles or 10,000 km and a brake inspection should be performed at the same time since the tires are off of the vehicle anyway

DID YOU KNOW.......

Not replacing a brake caliper when required will often cause the pads to wear out prematurely.  This is one of the many instances where sub sequential damage may add up to being more than the cost of the original repair.  Have your brakes inspected every 6 months / 6,000 miles or 10,000 km when your tires are being rotated to ensure your safety as well as avoid any further cost.
