BATTERY

WHAT IS A BATTERY?

The battery in your vehicle is really no different than that of the battery in a flash light.  It is the power source used to start the vehicle and run the electrical system.

How will I know when it's time for replacement?

Place your mouse over the picture to see a battery terminal end and cable.  It is very important that these terminal ends be serviced and kept clean to create a good contact with the battery

  • If your battery requires replacement you may note that a charging system warning light comes on in your instrument cluster.  This may be due to a battery failure or it may be due to another component failing.

  • A battery that requires replacement is likely to show signs of slow cranking or malfunction of other electrical components for a short time before complete failure.  You may also notice that the A.B.S. light comes on.  This is due to it's need for constant 12 volt supply.

  • Your charging system should be tested every 6 months / 6,000 miles or 10,000 km when in for regular servicing in order to prevent a break down.

DID YOU KNOW.......

Not having your charging system inspected for concerns every 6 months / 6,000 miles or 10,000 km could cause stress on other charging system components causing them to wear out prematurely or your vehicle to become immobile.  This is one of the many instances where sub sequential damage may add up to more than the cost of the original repair.
